Kydex F1 Sheath

Well dear reader I apologise if you feel neglected by my lack of posts but recently, with the arrivial of our early (and not destined to last) summer like weather I have been busily out and about!

Today however I am shiny arsing it in the office and as such decided to share a little secret with you. As you may or may not be aware I am a F1 user, the fjallkniven F1 being, to my mind, the best alround knife available to date. This jack of all trades was however let down a little by its sheath ..........

No I hear you cry!! Yes, sadly I reply!!

The leather sheath, so often promoted by various so called knowledgable people, is OK but its not great, being of less than quality leather and make, sadly. The zytel sheath is far better and I really like it but I'm not a fan of the snapper closure as I fear losing my tool it that snapper fails me.

So I contacted Martin Swinkel and asked him to make me a Kydex sheath for me F1. http://martinsheaths.blogspot.com/

Martins workmanship is excellent and his sheath is better than I imagined and hoped. Utilising kydex and leather the sheath offers a good tight lock on the knife (so my fear of losing my knife are now put to bed). It also offers the user various carriage options as the leather belt loop could be removes to make the sheath a necker - the leather loop would make a handy field strop. The sheath has a standard fire steel loop as the F1 is a brilliant tool for striking a fire steel.

Martin also supplied mine with a maxpeditions pouch on the front - which a handy addition. I'm not one for putting all my eggs in one basket but I did put a sharpening stone, some tinder card, a mini steel, maglite solitaire and a small steel in there (for good measure) - I also added added a length of para cord (long enough for a bow drill string for example) to the bottom of the sheath making it a handy little item.

I thoroughly recommend these sheaths so whether you have a F1 or a typical bushy I am sure Martin can produce a sheath for you.

Excellent work Martin!
